I'm Michele Ristuccia, I have been a breeder under the Miamber prefix for over 30 years and my husband breeds Mandalay cats under his own prefix Blackglama. Miamber is a hobby cattery in Adelaide, South Australia. We are both registered breeders with the Governing Cat Council of South Australia . Our kittens are reared with the dogs and are dog friendly as a result.
25 years ago I fell in love with the Burmilla and now breed these almost exclusively, I believe the Burmilla epitomises the absolute in feline beauty and temperament, they are an ideal indoor companion and as such are highly suited to apartment living. I have dedicated the last 24 +years to improving and developing the Burmilla, starting the breed in Victoria with the first litter in 2000 and moving into mentoring the Burmilla Semi-Long Hair breeders. I qualified some years ago as All Shorthair judge and have judged interstate, in New Zealand and at National shows.
I am dedicated to not only improving our breeds type, but also to breeding healthy and well adjusted companions. Every cat used in my breeding program has had their ancestors tested and found to be PKD and HK negative, and are certified as such by University of Davis, California. All responsible breeders of Burmilla should be able to provide DNA certification of PKD negativity.
My kittens are born and reared in our home and in our laps, alongside our Griffons. Our kittens are used to the usual activity and noise of a family and are well known for their loving and laid back natures. I do work full time, but do my best to interact continuously with my kittens, and their owners. and I do keep my site constantly updated.
